Nonlinear $C_{oss}-V_{DS}$ Profile Based ZVS Range Calculation for Dual Active Bridge Converters

Generally, power electronic converters are designed to obtain the highest efficiency at rated while they most often operated under partial loading conditions. For dual active bridge converters, zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) conditions can be impaired light load situations. While depending ZVS operation has been introduced by prior-art approaches, nonlinear characteristic of output capacitance in a device is not considered and its effect on operating boundaries neglected. In this letter, based practical switching transients, an improved method calculating range introduced. By taking into account nonlinearity capacitance, developed from detailed analysis real transients. A 2.5-kW prototype built, comprehensive comparison with approaches conducted validate accuracy proposed method.
